Indo Warehouse and Rashmeet Kaur unite on "Chor," a cinematic new chapter for Indo House music.
Releasing worldwide May 15 via Indo Warehouse / Above Board / The Orchard
Indo Warehouse and acclaimed Punjabi vocalist Rashmeet Kaur come together on "Chor," a haunting new single arriving May 15th that bridges underground electronic music with the emotional depth of South Asian musical tradition.
Built around hypnotic percussion, cinematic tension, and Sufi-inspired expression, "Chor" represents a creative collision between two artists deeply invested in pushing South Asian storytelling into new spaces. For Indo Warehouse founders Kahani and Kunal Merchant, the release marks the first official music they have created and released together as artists under the Indo Warehouse banner. For Rashmeet Kaur, the record opens a new sonic dimension — one where folk-rooted emotion and contemporary electronic production move in conversation with one another.
Rather than approaching Rashmeet's voice as a feature, layered onto a club record, "Chor" was built collaboratively from the ground up, allowing the vocals, atmosphere, and narrative to shape the emotional architecture of the track together.
The title — "Chor," meaning thief — draws inspiration from an original story developed by Indo Warehouse centered around a mysterious monsoon-season theft and a missing page from an ancient raag ("melody") manuscript. The story serves as the first glimpse into a larger creative universe the artists have been quietly developing through music, visuals, and narrative world-building.
"Over the last few years, we've been thinking deeply about how to create music that feels connected to our heritage without feeling trapped by nostalgia. With Rashmeet, it never felt like we were combining separate worlds. It felt like we were discovering a shared language together."
— Kahani
For Rashmeet Kaur, "Chor" offered an opportunity to approach songwriting and vocal performance with a different kind of emotional pacing and intimacy.
"Chor is a dark, emotionally layered song that feels like a whisper spreading through every street and alley. There's a 'chor' out there, someone capable of stealing your heart. But beneath the vulnerability and intensity, the song also carries the quiet reminder not to lose yourself blindly in love, but to give your heart to someone truly worthy of it. It lives in the contrast between surrender and self-protection, making the song feel haunting, intimate, and deeply emotional."
— Rashmeet Kaur
The track was first introduced live during Indo Warehouse's back-to-back performance with Pete Tong at IMS Ibiza last month, where audiences loved the early preview of the collaboration.
Since emerging in 2022, Indo Warehouse has become one of the defining forces behind the global rise of Indo House, bringing South Asian identity and storytelling into contemporary dance music through sold-out events, festival performances, and community-driven experiences around the world. Rashmeet Kaur has become one of the most distinctive contemporary voices in Punjabi music, known for blending folk traditions with modern songwriting and emotionally charged performances. Together, "Chor" is the beginning of a new creative conversation.
